Mepco GSD-10 Guardian compact condensate pump with mechanical alternator, duplex, 20lb., 10 gallon steel receiver, 18 gallons per minute, 1/3HP 115v 1phase, weight is 175lbs. Mepco condensate pump units are designed to collect return condensate from the steam system and return it to the boiler in most cases via a boiler feed pump unit. As condensate flows by gravity or from other pumping units to this receiver tank, the receiver fills with water. The float switch assembly then rises and signals the motor on the pump to start and begin pumping the condensate until the float drops with the lower water level and breaks the contact on the switch to shut the pump off. Mepco condensate pumps are made in simplex (one pump) or duplex (two pumps). Duplex units are supplied with a mechanical alternator in place of the simplex float switch. The mechanical alternator will alternate from one pump to the other pump during cycles. This means longer life to the unit, plus it provides automatic back-up for the first pump in case of failure or it cannot handle the return load. Mepcos receivers are cast iron, the pumps are bronze fitted and run at 3450 RPM.
