Mepco (D&B) Thermostatic Disc and Seat for 1E-SS

Mepco thermostatic disc with replacement stainless steel seat. Part No. ML9684 for 1/2″ 1E-SS series radiator traps all patterns. The ending -SS indicates the 1E steam traps has a long-lasting & removable stainless steel seat. The 1E-SS model of Mepco steam trap has a removable stainless steel seat. The standard 1E does not – Its seat is an integral part of the trap body and cannot be removed. Once the existing seat on the standard 1E is scarred or pitted it will leak steam even when the disc is closed against the seat. Mepco thermostatic discs or elements are a sealed liquid filled capusule that close to keep the steam contained in the heating apparatus, and open to allow the discharge of air and condensate when it cools. They are used in radiator or fin tube heating applications. When steam is present the heat expands the fluid within the capsule causing it to push its outer plunger into discharge seat sealing the steam. As the steam cools it causes the liquid to contract which raises the plunger allowing the air and condensate to discharge.
